Challenges in laparoscopy and robotics

Conclusions from "Challenges in laparoscopy and robotics" symposium which have been held on June 10th-12th in Rome (Italy) in attendance of more than 380 urologists. The purpose of this symposium was to familiarize the visitors with trend, techniques and the latest clinical outcomes of a laparoscopic and robotic assisted procedures.

Comments:

"The Posterior Reconstruction (PR) combined with Periurethral Suspension Stitch (PSS) resulted in a statistically significant shorter interval to recovery of continence after RALP compared to PSS without PR."

"RALP is here to stay mainly due to the improved ergonomics resulting in a shorter learning curve."

"In conclusion, it exist a rather clear difference of results between the laparoscopic surgery and the robotic surgery in terms of length of procedure, of blood losses and also concerning the speed of recovery on continence but especially on sexual function."
